THE ROUTE :
Hartenbos – Great Brak River & return : 24 km & return :
We depart from Hartenbos station, (adjacent to Hennie’s Restaurant) where our gleaming steam locomotive with her vintage coaches awaits you.
Departing from Hartenbos our train winds through the holiday town before crossing the Hartenbos river mouth & the Indian Ocean. The line then runs along the coastline with spectacular views from the train. Soon we descend & cross the majestic Little Brak River mouth bridge & into the village’s quaint station.
A steep incline awaits the train & the crew as we traverse the steep gradients to Reebok and later to Tergniet. Our destination is the picturesque Great Brak River station where our passengers can disembark for 1 hour while the thirsty beast receives a much-needed water supply in her tender by the crew.
Passengers can enjoy a short stroll to the lagoon or enjoy a coffee/cooldrink or snack at the adjacent restaurant and stalls located on the lawns.
The train driver’s whistle signals his readiness for our departure time and our journey back to Hartenbos station, where we will disembark.
